Mission-critical infrastructure is any system whose failure would halt core business operations, so it is engineered for continuous availability rather than simply “working most of the time.” In a data centre this means redundant power paths, backup generation and UPS, precision cooling sized for high-density loads, and round-the-clock environmental and security monitoring.
Our data center contracting services support a broad range of sectors where continuous uptime is non-negotiable:
Whether you are building a new facility from the ground up or upgrading an existing one, RISB delivers infrastructure engineered for your sector’s regulatory and operational requirements.
RISB delivers data center contracting services across Peninsular Malaysia from three project offices:
A data center contractor designs, builds and maintains the physical infrastructure that keeps a data centre running — power, cooling, racks and containment, monitoring and security — and integrates them into a resilient, high availability environment.
Mission-critical infrastructure refers to systems and facilities where any downtime directly causes significant financial loss, safety risk or service failure. In data centres, this includes redundant UPS systems, generator backup, precision air conditioning, fire suppression and physical security. RISB specialises in mission-critical data centre contracting across Penang, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
Cooling is sized to the heat load of the IT equipment and optimized with hot/cold aisle containment and, where needed, CFD modelling to predict airflow, remove hotspots and reduce energy use.
Most enterprise and co-location facilities in Malaysia require Tier 3, which provides 99.982% uptime through N+1 redundant power and cooling paths. Tier 1 and Tier 2 suit smaller organisations with less critical requirements. Tier 4 (99.995% uptime, 2N+1 redundancy) is reserved for national financial infrastructure or government mission-critical systems. RISB designs and builds Tier 1 to Tier 3 environments across Malaysia.
A typical enterprise data centre fit-out in Malaysia takes 3 to 6 months depending on size and complexity. A greenfield data centre construction project (including civil and structural works) typically takes 12 to 18 months. RISB provides a detailed project programme at tender stage, covering procurement, installation, testing and commissioning milestones.
A qualified data center contractor in Malaysia should hold CIDB registration (G7 for large projects), ISO 9001:2015 for quality management, and ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety. Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) registration is required for electrical works. RISB holds all of these certifications and is an authorised distributor of CPI (Chatsworth Products) data centre infrastructure.
CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) modelling is a simulation technique that maps airflow, temperature and pressure distribution inside a data centre before construction begins. It identifies hotspots, validates the cooling design and ensures the chosen containment strategy — hot aisle or cold aisle — will perform as specified. RISB uses CFD modelling on data centre projects to eliminate thermal risk before any equipment is installed.
