CPI Racks & Cabinets — Authorized Chatsworth Products (CPI) Distributor

As an Authorized Distributor of Chatsworth Products Inc. (CPI), RISB supplies and installs industry-leading CPI racks, enclosures, cabinets and cable management for enterprise and data center environments. CPI racks deliver the airflow management, containment and structural reliability that high-density IT and mission-critical facilities depend on.

Cat 5e vs Cat 6 vs Cat 6A vs Fiber — Which Cabling Do You Need?

Choosing the right cabling depends on speed, distance and future-proofing. Cat 5e handles everyday Gigabit networks; Cat 6 and Cat 6A support higher speeds and longer 10G runs; Cat 7 and Cat 8 serve demanding data-centre links.

Fiber optic cabling — singlemode for long distances, multimode for shorter high-bandwidth runs — carries far more data with immunity to electrical interference, making it the backbone choice for data centres and campus networks. RISB assesses your bandwidth needs, distances and growth plans, then designs a copper and fiber mix that performs today and scales tomorrow.

Testing and Commissioning (Copper & Fiber)

We utilize professional testing tools and industry-approved methods to ensure all installations meet performance and compliance standards before handover.

Copper cable testing (Fluke and equivalent tools)

Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting (OTDR, power meter, and light source)

Certification and performance reports

End-to-end testing and commissioning

Compliance verification and documentation

Every system is thoroughly tested to ensure quality, reliability, and readiness for operation.

RISB as Your Fiber Optic Contractor in Malaysia

As a certified fiber optic contractor operating across Malaysia, RISB designs, supplies, installs and commissions fiber optic cabling systems for enterprise, industrial and data center environments. We work with singlemode (OS2) and multimode (OM3, OM4, OM5) fiber, selecting the right type based on your distance requirements, bandwidth demands and budget.

Our fiber optic contracting services cover:

  • Horizontal and backbone fiber runs within buildings
  • Campus fiber between multiple buildings
  • Data center fiber: intra-rack, inter-rack and main distribution frame (MDF)
  • Fiber optic terminations — LC, SC, ST, MPO/MTP connectors
  • OTDR testing and certification with full trace documentation
  • Splicing and connector cleaning to ANSI/TIA and ISO/IEC standards

A professional fiber optic contractor does not just pull cable — RISB designs the system, tests every link and hands over a certified, documented infrastructure.

RISB as Your Network Cabling Contractor in Malaysia

RISB provides network cabling contractor services for commercial offices, industrial facilities, data centers and government buildings across Malaysia. Whether you need a single-floor office cabling project or a campus-wide structured cabling rollout, our team delivers to TIA/EIA 568 and ISO/IEC 11801 standards with full certification and documentation.

Network cabling services include:

  • Copper cabling: Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Cat 7, Cat 8
  • Fiber optic cabling: singlemode and multimode backbone and horizontal runs
  • Patch panel and floorbox installation
  • Cable trays, conduits and cable ladders
  • Structured labelling and as-built drawing handover
  • Link and channel certification using Fluke DSX or equivalent

Industry Applications:

  • Data Centers and Co-location Facilities — high-density cabling, fiber backbone, CPI rack deployment
  • Manufacturing and Industrial — factory floor network cabling, SCADA connectivity, ESD-safe environments
  • Commercial Offices — full floor plate cabling, server room buildout, Wi-Fi infrastructure
  • Healthcare — clinical systems cabling, secure network zones, nurse call integration

Frequently Asked Questions

What is structured cabling?

Structured cabling is a standardised telecommunications infrastructure system using copper and fiber optic cables, patch panels, cable trays and labelled connections to support voice, data, video and building automation in a building. It is designed to TIA/EIA 568 and ISO/IEC 11801 standards. RISB is a certified structured cabling and network cabling contractor in Malaysia.

Cat 6 supports 1 Gbps up to 100 metres and 10 Gbps up to 55 metres. Cat 6A is shielded, supports 10 Gbps up to 100 metres and is the recommended standard for new office and data center cabling installations. For future-proofing, RISB recommends Cat 6A for all new structured cabling projects in Malaysia, as the additional cost over Cat 6 is minimal compared to the cost of recabling later.

An OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) test sends a light pulse through the fiber and measures reflections to identify faults, splices, connectors and signal loss along the entire cable length. It produces a trace that proves the cable performs to specification. Every fiber optic installation by RISB includes OTDR testing with full documentation — this protects the manufacturer warranty and gives the client certified proof of performance.

Singlemode fiber (OS2) uses a smaller core (9 micron) and transmits light from a laser source over distances up to 100 km. It is used for campus backbone, building-to-building runs and telco infrastructure. Multimode fiber (OM3, OM4, OM5) has a larger core (50 micron) for shorter distances up to 400 metres and is typically used inside buildings and data centres. RISB installs both singlemode and multimode fiber across Malaysia.

CPI (Chatsworth Products Inc.) racks are open-frame and enclosed server rack systems designed for high-density data centre environments. They are precision-engineered for airflow management, cable organisation and structural load, and support hot aisle/cold aisle containment designs. RISB is an authorised CPI distributor in Malaysia, supplying and installing CPI racks, enclosures, cable management and containment systems directly to clients.

A network cabling contractor designs, installs, tests, certifies and maintains the copper and fiber cabling that connects an organization’s network equipment and devices.

Choose a network cabling contractor who can provide: (1) TIA/EIA 568 or ISO/IEC 11801 compliance with certified test results; (2) Fluke DSX or equivalent link/channel certification documentation; (3) OTDR traces for fiber links; (4) structured labelling and as-built drawings on handover; (5) manufacturer warranty on components; and (6) a track record of similar projects. RISB provides all six for every network cabling project in Malaysia.
