Every M&E installation RISB delivers complies with:
One of RISB’s key advantages is delivering M&E scope as part of a fully integrated data center or ICT project — with data center, ICT and ELV teams coordinated under unified project management.
For data center M&E specifically, RISB provides:
Coverage: Penang | Kulim | Kedah | Selangor | Kuala Lumpur
An M&E (Mechanical and Electrical) contractor designs, installs and commissions the building services systems in a construction project. This includes HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), electrical distribution, fire detection and suppression, plumbing, drainage, lighting and energy management systems. RISB is a CIDB G7-certified M&E contractor in Malaysia with in-house ICT and ELV capability.
An electrical contractor is registered with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) to install electrical wiring and distribution only. An M&E contractor covers the full mechanical and electrical scope: HVAC, fire protection, electrical distribution, plumbing, BMS and energy management — typically as a major subcontractor or main contractor on a construction project. RISB is registered for the full M&E scope.
For server rooms and data halls, clean agent fire suppression systems — FM200 (HFC-227ea) or Novec 1230 — are the standard choice in Malaysia. They suppress fire without water, protecting equipment. CO2 systems are not recommended for occupied spaces. BOMBA requires fire suppression systems to be designed and installed by registered contractors. RISB designs and installs FM200 and Novec 1230 systems as part of its data center M&E scope.
M&E services typically cover HVAC and ventilation, electrical power distribution and backup power, fire protection and detection, lighting systems, and energy management.
An EMS monitors and optimises a building’s energy use through real-time metering, consumption analysis and integration with building automation — lowering costs and supporting green-building goals.
For large commercial buildings in Malaysia, centralised chilled water systems (AHU/FCU with chillers) are the most energy-efficient choice for cooling loads above 200 RT. VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems suit medium-sized offices (30–200 RT) and offer individual zone control. Split units suit small offices. RISB engineers recommend the system based on the building’s cooling load calculation, floor plate design and energy efficiency targets.
M&E works in Malaysia require compliance with UBBL (Uniform Building By-Laws), Suruhanjaya Tenaga for electrical works, BOMBA for fire detection and suppression systems, JBA (National Water Services Commission) for plumbing and drainage, and Jabatan Alam Sekitar for projects with environmental impact. RISB manages all regulatory submissions and authority approvals as part of its M&E project delivery.
Yes. RISB’s M&E division works alongside the data center and ICT teams under unified project management. For data center M&E, RISB provides precision air conditioning (PAC units and close-control cooling), redundant UPS and power distribution, FM200 or Novec fire suppression, and environmental monitoring integrated with the DCIM platform — all delivered as a coordinated scope within the data center construction contract.
